Not all children in care will return to their own families so we need to find them a permanent home. In some cases this will be through adoption, but for other children, especially older children or those who continue to have regular contact with relatives, a long term foster home will be a better option for the child.
If this is the case a foster family must be found who can provide a long term home for the child until they reach adulthood and are ready to live independently, to allow them to feel as secure as possible.
