Care and support

Where to look for help and advice

Who can adopt?

All sorts of people make a success of adoption. It doesn’t matter if you are married, in a relationship or single, or in or out of work. You will not be excluded because of your race, religion or sexuality, and there is no age limit as long as you can provide a stable home for a child until adulthood and beyond.

You will need plenty of patience, humour and energy – children are very demanding! Above all, you need to be determined to give a young person the sort of support that will really make a difference in their lives.

You will also need:

• To be over 21
• To be domiciled in the UK
• To be sufficiently healthy and able to parent a child safely through to adulthood
• To not have been convicted of any violent or abusive offences against children or adults
• To have concluded fertility investigations or treatment
• To be at a point in your life when you have enough stability and security to focus on the needs of the child/children you wish to adopt

If you would like to know more about who can adopt please contact us as we are happy to discuss any issues with you.
