Supporting Adult Adoptees

Adoption Support Service - Supporting Adult Adoptees This leaflet gives details of our support and counselling service offered to adult adoptees and those searching for birth relatives.

Hertfordshire County Council has operated as an adoption agency for more than 40 years. Besides our own records, some of which date back to the 1930s, we hold information about thousands of adoptions which took place in Hertfordshire and were arranged by other adoption agencies. We also hold the records for the St Albans Diocesan Council which operated as an adoption agency from 1954 to 1977. By law, we must keep all records for 75 years.
We can provide support, advice and information to adults who were adopted and to people searching for relatives who were adopted.
We make no charge for advice or counselling
