Hertfordshire Safeguarding Children Board (HSCB) - child protection procedures and training.

The Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) brings together representatives of each of the main agencies and professionals responsible for protecting children from abuse and neglect.

The importance of inter-agency co-operation and communication has been highlighted in all reports concerning child deaths and serious injuries, most recently and notably the Laming Inquiry into the death of Victoria Climbie.

The Children Act 2004 drew these themes together and set out measures for the development of Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs), previously known as Area Child Protection Committees (ACPCs), by April 2006.

In Every Child Matters: Change for Children, it emphasises the shared sense of responsibility across agencies for safeguarding children and protecting them from harm.

"All organisations need to listen and be responsive to the diverse needs of children, young people and their families and to recognise that safeguarding children and young people from harm must be everyone’s business."
Inter-agency training is a key element in this process. LSCB training staff are based at County Hall. Contact details for staff, and an electronic copy of the Training programme, can be found on this page.
