Carers who have been out of work for a long time may need information, advice and guidance on how to show evidence of their skills or may need to gradually build up confidence and skills to return to work.
Often carers don’t have the time to think about using their existing skills or getting new ones. A carer’s confidence can be affected by time away from a paid job, and by the isolation of their caring role. When a caring role finishes, the carer may feel lost and unsure what to do next.
So although you may be planning to get back into work in the long run, you may want to get some help thinking about the skills you already have and those you may want to develop.
