What is a carer's assessment?

A carer's assessment is a chance to talk about your needs as a carer and the possible ways we can help. We would also look at the needs of the person you care for. This could be done separately or together depending on the situation. There is no charge for an assessment.

The assessment would normally happen when the needs of the person you care for are first assessed, or in any reviews of their needs afterwards. However, you can approach us for a carer's assessment at any time through your local Adult Care team or by contacting the Customer Service Centre (use the link called 'Contact us' for further details.)
