Where to look for help and advice

Grant - What is Carers’ Grant?

Carers' Grant is money which the Government gives Hertfordshire County Council to help make sure carers get breaks from caring.

Most of the money goes to voluntary sector projects but a range of other flexible services can sometimes be funded out of the carers’ grant - not only breaks services, but also practical help for the carer.

Usually the way to get a break or practical help funded by carers' grant is for you or the person you care for to have an assessment. A leaflet called You look after someone gives more details about this.

Many breaks are funded by groups like Crossroads - a charity that carers themselves can approach to get a break. Contact details are in the links below to local Crossroads projects.

Please note: To view the full text of leaflets online, or order copies, please use the Adult Care Services Publications link and navigate to the 'Carers' section.
