The Mayor of Ware for 2007/08 is Cllr George Powell.

The town council areas of responsibility are:

* Management and control of the Priory, building a new community hall (Fletcher's Lea) and its grounds (including the tennis courts and open air swimming pool).
* Management of the Cemetry.
* Maintenance of the War Memorial, Church Clock and Churchyards at St Mary's Church.
* Provision of litter bins and public seats.
* Organisation of Ware Festival and Financing the various events.

The Priory are licensed to hold civil ceremonies and has a hall and several function rooms / suites which are available for hire for meetings, conferences and parties etc.

Council office opening hours:
Monday-Thursday 8.45am-5.15pm;
Friday 8.45am-4.45pm.
