The Parish Council has 7 members and is elected every four years. The next election will be in 2007. Those interested in serving on the Parish Council are particularly welcome to attend meetings and should ask the Clerk for advice on election procedures.
The Council normally meets in the Old Boys' School, Church End, Braughing at 8.00pm on the second Thursday of the month except April (which is the Annual Parish Meeting), August and December. The Annual Parish Council Meeting is held in May when officers and sub-groups are elected for the following year. Planning applications are available from 7.30pm at each meeting.
Details of the Parish Council meetings are posted on the notice boards and Post Office in Braughing together with the notice boards in Hay Street, Dassels and also Farm Shop, about 10 days before the meeting is due to take place.
Parishioners are very welcome to attend the meetings and time is made available for them to voice any concerns.
The County Councillor and District Councillor attends most meetings and details are also sent to the Herts Mercury and Royston/Buntingford Crow.
The Council employs a part time Clerk who, in consultation with the Chairman, deals with all correspondence, financial matters, takes minutes, attends various meetings and executes Council decisions. A regular report is published in the Parish Magazine and the minutes are published on the website.
